joyeuses noces de coton, part une

Lots and lots to catch up on! It’s been about a month since my last full post and there’s almost too much to talk about. This’ll definitely have to be a multi-part post. Let’s call part une: Prep.

The two weeks leading up to our wedding celebration were hectic, meeting with vendors to finalize our plans, finishing the favors/escort cards, plus accommodating last-minute changes to the seating chart. It was the shortest two weeks of my life. Before we knew it, it was time for our rehearsal dinner and check-in to the Shangri-la Mactan Resort.

We were a little concerned about the weather on the day, since it’s the beginning of the rainy season in our part of the tropics, but lots of prayers from friends and family kept the rainclouds at bay for a beautiful, blue-skied backdrop to our wedding!

Note: Ladies, if you’re shopping for a wedding photographer, look first at their portfolio, then correspond of meet with them. I think it’s so important to have full confidence in your photographer as they are in charge of capturing your special day for posterity. What I loved about having Joey, Nelson and their crew there was, first of all, being sure that their vision of our wedding matched what we wanted to see. Secondly, they were very discreet and did not disturb our preparations or the ceremony and reception in any way. I’ve been to many weddings where the photographers and videographers are so conspicuous that the guests barely get to see or listen to anything because there are so many things going on. There are shots that surprised me because I literally had no idea that the photographers were there to capture them at the time. Thanks, Joey and Nelson, for making each captured moment so special.
